The regular program for adults provides a fun vigorous work-out with the added benefit of learning self-defense skills. Students must be 13 years and older to attend the adults' class.
The routine consists of:
• Warm-up and strengthening exercises including running for a few minutes
• Kicks, punches, and blocks using a variety of drill formats
• Pattern forms, which are memorized sequences of about 20 movements
• Step sparring sequences, which are memorized defensive movements with a partner
• Self-defense moves to counter a variety of offensive moves
• Occasional sparring
Testing for each higher belt rank through the 1st degree black belt occurs every two or three months. The 2nd degree and higher black belts require longer training cycles.
Master Park will focus on each student personally and help plan a program for his/her success in Taekwondo. He will help students to focus on their forms, sparring, defense, and weapon techniques. Master Park will help students to set and achieve their goals. He constantly motivates students to perform at their best level and obtain a great workout. With persistence in the Taekwondo program, students can achieve a good balance in body mass/weight and conditioning.
The sparring class is a special class where students learn skills needed for Taekwondo competition events. Enrollment is limited to students who are either at least blue belt rank or with special permission. The class meets once a week and is very demanding. Students must achieve top conditioning.
The family class is a unique class offered at Park's Taekwondo. This class is designed for family fun and bonding. The class allows parents and children to spend time together while learning martial arts. Parents and children bond in support of each other while learning new skills and "getting in shape."
